hey all!

hey, guess what?! i got to stay in my area! one of the areas in an english ward was closed so that now only elders serve in that ward and one sister went with another sister who sent her companion home at the same time and then the other sister came with me! hermana pirir!! she is from guatemala and her family is living in las vegas right now. she’s been in the states for about 3 years and her english is perfect šŸ™‚ so i went from learning mexican spanish to spanish spoken in guatemala šŸ™‚ she is awesome! she’s been serving for about 5 months and is on fire! i just love this girl šŸ™‚

we were able to go to the branch christmas party this past saturday. so. much. fun. there are members who rather go to the branch parties than to their own ward christmas party šŸ™‚ we’re talking big news. we started teaching a new family from guadalajara mexico -super awesome- turns out the mom was baptized some 30 years ago and they had been thinking about the elders who used to come by but hadn’t been in a while when some crazy sisters knocked on their door. we invited them to the activity and had a neat lesson with them. i love serving the hispanic community because they typically have an understanding and a faith in Christ already. so when we told them about the nativity and the tamales they were on board! they also brought their family which was super cool! we also had a ton of less active families there with us. so great šŸ™‚

well we’ve been talking a lot about christmas and like you mentioned we do get to focus on the true meaning of christmas and i love that we are able to grasp the beauty of this season and share it with others! the birth of the Savior was prophesied years before and was talked about years after and was recorded in what we have as sacred scripture now. and i believe that it’s because the birth, life, and atonement of Jesus Christ changed the course of fallen man and provides each of us the opportunity to set our eternal destiny. He impacts everything that we do and enables us to do what we can. Christ was foreordained, and having this time to reflect and act upon the gift He has given us, the gift that He is, has brought an overwhelming feeling of gratitude.

i love the gospel of Jesus Christ and that it teaches us to reach beyond ourselves and lift another. that we heal as we drive our energy outward. i love that this is a gospel of change. a gospel of unity. a gospel of love. i love that we learn by teaching others. that we are stronger as we challenge our weaknesses. i love that because of Christ we have all the answers to the test (the spirit), the study helps (prayer and scripture), the tutors (prophets, priesthood), study groups (wards), “phone a friend” (home teaching and visiting teaching), i mean…we have it all!! because our Redeemer came. because He lived for us. because He overcame all. and because He lives again, we have it all. and we can pass the test.
i love my Savior and i know that He lives. i’m grateful for His voice and for His masterful design.

i love you

feliz navidad!! hablaremos en jueves!! les amo muchisimo!!!!!

much love,
hermana bain
